Messi will cost Barcelona a staggering amount of money after his shock departure.

The Blaugrana are in a critical financial situation with the loss of six-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi that will hit the club both on and off the pitch.

Messi agreed to take a 50% cut in salary but the club was unable to register him due to La Liga regulations.

The 34-year old is now set to reunite with former Barca teammate Neymar at PSG on a two-year deal.

Messi’s sudden departure could cost Blaugrana a whopping €137 million in brand value which suggests that sometimes a player is bigger than the club itself.

The Catalan giants will lose out on matchday revenue, merchandise revenue as he has been Barca’s star attraction for many years now.
