Barcelona have launched an initial approach to sign Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro, with the Catalan giants bracing for the potential departure of their current defender Jules Kounde.

Spanish journalist Gerard Romero broke the news on his Jijantes show on Tuesday night, revealing that Barcelona have already sounded out the World Cup winner’s representatives.
“Contact has been made in recent days with Pedro Porro, with the full-back’s entourage,” Romero confirmed.”
He is one of the highest paid players at Tottenham, he renewed very recently, but Barcelona have sounded out his entourage in the event that Jules Kounde leaves.”
The interest in Porro comes amid growing uncertainty surrounding Kounde’s future at Camp Nou.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen to recruit the French international before the summer transfer window closes.
According to Romero, Kounde has received multiple offers from Premier League clubs.
While the defender has not yet indicated any desire to leave, the journalist described the situation as “half open” where “anything can happen.”
Porro, 26, enjoyed a remarkable summer on the international stage, starting all but one game as Spain clinched World Cup glory in North America.
He has spent four seasons in the Premier League since joining Spurs on loan from Sporting CP in January 2023, with the move made permanent six months later for £39.7 million.
Any potential deal, however, faces significant obstacles. The Spanish international signed a lucrative new long-term contract with Tottenham in June, tying him to the club until 2031.
Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi views the full-back as a fundamental part of his tactical setup.
“Pedro is a very important player for us, who has consistently shown his ability to influence matches in both defensive and attacking situations,” De Zerbi said after Porro’s renewal.”
As well as his technical quality, I also love his mentality. Every day he wants to work, to learn and to improve.”
Barcelona now face a critical decision. They must wait to see whether Arsenal makes a decisive move for Kounde before testing Tottenham’s resolve over a player they have only recently secured on a long-term contract.
With Porro considered one of Spurs’ highest earners and De Zerbi adamant about his importance, prising the Spaniard away from north London would require a substantial financial commitment from the Blaugrana.
