Barcelona will leave Spotify Camp Nou again. Club treasurer and economic vice-president Ferran Olive has announced the plan.

Barcelona set for second Camp Nou exit in two years

The La Liga champions will play the opening months of next season away from their famous home. They aim to return in January 2028.

The club has only just returned to Camp Nou. Barcelona closed the stadium in summer 2023 to begin long-overdue renovations.

Officials first hoped to reopen in late 2024. Unexpected delays pushed that return to November last year. Now another departure looms.

The reason is straightforward. The club must fit a new roof and finish the stadium. Design plans require workers to build the roof from inside the ground.

That approach will place building materials where the pitch normally sits. Barcelona therefore cannot host matches there while crews complete the work.

The renovation remains a major priority for the club’s future.

Ferran Olive has told Hansi Flick and his squad to prepare for a temporary move. They will leave their ground for the first half of the upcoming season.

The team then plans to return in January 2028. This schedule gives builders the clear space they need.

Supporters will feel mixed emotions. They love Camp Nou, but they also understand the club needs a modernized venue.

Barcelona will keep competing while playing elsewhere. The temporary move will disrupt routines, yet it should deliver a finished stadium.

The club has not yet confirmed every detail, including where the team will play. More information will follow. For now, Barcelona prepares for another farewell.

Camp Nou will fall silent again, but only for a while. The club expects to come back to a bigger and better home.
