Even though Barcelona defeated Eintracht Frankfurt in a critical Champions League encounter, Lamine Yamal received most of the attention following the game. Apart from his crucial assist on Jules Kounde’s second goal, the youngster had a quiet evening and found it difficult to establish himself in the last third.

The yellow card he received in the 56th minute, however, was the true problem. Nathaniel Brown was clearly booked for a foul, and while nobody in the crowd disagreed with the ruling, it had serious repercussions.

Yamal will now be automatically suspended from Barcelona’s forthcoming match against Slavia Prague on January 21 due to this caution, which was his third in the current Champions League round.

Prior to the game, he was one of four Barça players who may be suspended, along with Frenkie de Jong, Marc Casado, and Fermin Lopez.

Yamal set to miss next Champions League game

In closing, Flick emphasised that this kind of mentality is completely unacceptable. This, in my opinion, is also a positive mindset. I don’t see any issues. I was a gamer once, so I totally understand him. Lamine is another player at a very high level, so even if I may not have done what he does, I completely respect it. It’s not an issue,” he declared.

Yamal’s displeasure after being substituted off in the 3-0 loss to Chelsea earlier this season was comparable. Flick thinks that rather than being an indication of a bigger issue, these instances are more a reflection of Yamal’s drive to play every minute.

With their victory over Frankfurt, Barcelona advanced to 14th position with 10 points in the Champions League rankings. However, Yamal’s absence will be a significant setback for the team as they strive for a top-eight finish to escape the playoff round.

Yamal will face a one-match suspension after getting booked in the 56th minute for accumulating yellow cards. When Barcelona travels to Slavia Prague on January 21 of next year for Matchday 7 of the UCL, the youthful winger will not be able to play after reaching his third game of the competition.
