Barcelona looked light in midfield against Chelsea on Tuesday, with Pedri sidelined. Frenkie de Jong and Eric Garcia were supposed to anchor the game for the Blaugrana, with Fermin Lopez ahead of them, but they struggled to handle Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and Reece James. Fortunately, an agent emerged and offered a remedy.
Due to his involvement in Neymar Junior’s move, Barcelona supporters are becoming more familiar with the name of Brazilian agent Andre Cury. Vitor Roque, who spent a brief six months in Catalonia before being leased out and then sold, is also represented by Cury.
Cury also worked for the team as a scout in South America for a while, but he most recently made an appearance to clarify that client Estevao had a fondness for Barcelona. Cury was asked which player he would suggest for the Blaugrana when he talked with Cadena SER after their loss to Chelsea.
Ederson available at a reduced price
“Ederson, who plays for Atalanta, is a guy who I believe would fit well in with Barça’s style, offering a lot of physicality and stamina. His contract is about to expire; therefore, this is a chance. Despite receiving extremely lucrative bids, Atalanta hasn’t wanted to sell him. I believe the transfer will be finished during this winter or summer window.
According to Cury, who coincidentally represents Ederson, the Serie A midfielder may potentially be available for less. Between €60 million and €75 million was the amount that [Atalanta] was requesting. His contract is almost up; therefore, they might cut his price in half to between €30 and €40 million. Despite this, he is an outstanding player with some of the finest stats in Europe for his position.
Ederson has been linked to Barcelona in the past, and they were noted with interest as far back as 2023. Having said that, it doesn’t appear probable that they will look to sign a midfield player in the summer. The Catalan team recently extended de Jong’s contract, and they are now negotiating a new agreement with Marc Casado.
