Frenkie de Jong could be sold to Manchester United this summer.
The Dutch midfielder is currently on top of Erik Ten Hag’s wishlist for the summer and would want to reunite with the former Ajax midfielder at Old Trafford.
On the other hand, Barcelona are looking to offload De Jong as the club looks to sell several players to balance their wage structure.
With Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba exiting this summer, United would want to have a strong presence in the heart of midfield.
De Jong has made his intention clear that he wants to continue with the Catalan giants although there is a lot of time to get his opinion reversed.
Dutch journalist Johan Derksen urges De Jong to consider moving to Old Trafford.
“There’s something to be said about him being better if he goes to Manchester United,” Johan Derksen told Vandaag Inside.
“There he has a trainer who knows him, who knows where he’s strongest and where he has to play. Then he plays every week, and he comes into his own.
“The boy is too polite to be disruptive; that is not in him. He is a bit misused in Spain because he is actually dispensable over there.”
