Frenkie De Jong Wants Barcelona To Continue With Koeman

Frenkie de Jong wants Ronald Koeman to stay at Barcelona.

Club president, Joan Laporta has not yet decided whether he will continue with the Dutchman holding the reigns or sign a replacement.

De Jong of course, wants his former national team boss and compatriot to remain at Camp Nou. Koeman did deliver a Copa del Rey trophy last term even if the remainder of the campaign was more morbid for the fans.

“Personally, I hope Koeman stays. I have a good relationship with him. But I have little influence on that, I think. I, too, will be waiting to see what happens”, expressed a hopeful Frenkie de Jong.

Koeman’s has come under the gun for somewhat underperforming in his first season at Barca. De Jong added, “That is because Barcelona is one of the biggest clubs in Spain. You are always expected to become the champions. By the press and the public, but you want the same as a player. If you fail, you have not done well in people’s eyes. That’s how it works.”

“I think we as a team, despite a revival did not perform well. You want to become a champion at Barça. We won the cup, nice, but in the end, it is not good enough. I also blame myself for that.”
