Griezmann ruled out for the rest of the season

Antoine Griezmann has been ruled out for the rest of the La Liga season.

The Catalan club’s big-money signing from last summer was supposed to form the third head of the trifecta at Nou Camp. Needless to say such has not been the case as Griezmann’s first season has been less than underwhelming.

7 goals and 4 assists from a player who cost in excess of 100 million is not what Barcelona was expecting. Besides the performance, there also has been the issue of the off-field antics with the rest of the players.

First, there was the rumor that Lionel Messi wanted Neymar and not Griezmann and hence was not happy with the arrival of the Frenchman and that is a cold spot to be in if you are playing in Barcelona. What made it worse was that the Barca players never quite forgave him for turning down the club back in 2018!

Now the player’s torrid first season has come to a premature closure – with a quadriceps muscle injury. This is what the club statement said: “Tests this morning have shown that Antoine Griezmann has a quadriceps muscle injury in his right leg. He is not available for selection and the evolution of the injury will condition his availability.”

It seems Griezmann’s career has taken the decisive dip into the oblivion.
