Griezmann struggles will yield results: Setien

Barcelona has made a happy restart to life in Spanish football.

Two matches, two wins, 6 goals scored, none conceded, and five points clear at the top is a good day for Barcelona coach Quique Setien. Add to that, Fati the teenage prodigy and Braithwaite the new boy have both scored while legend Leo Messi has scored 2 and assisted two himself.

Now with Suarez returning from injury, the last problem on the card is the missing form of Barcelona’s hot signing Antoine Griezmann. The high-profile player has not only scored less but been clearly out of sync. However, Setien trusts in the player’s abilities and his dedication on the pitch and thinks it will eventually come good for him too.

Setien told Movistar: “Griezmann is a boy who does a commendable job. He is an extremely important player.”

Setien also commended the way his team played out the match against Leganes.

“I knew the game was going to be difficult. Unless you have the fortune of getting it right at the beginning, which opens the game, it will be complicated. It has been so,” he said.

“We started very well, but then we lost some balls and gave them life. It happened to us in the cup match [in January]. They could have scored, then we have already controlled the last 20 minutes.

“They close very well and defend very well. It is not easy to find spaces.”
