Barcelona’s summer transfer plans are becoming clearer, with a renewed focus on two different targets: securing a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski and finalizing a permanent deal for Marcus Rashford.
Bayern’s Kane Joins Alvarez and Pedro on Barcelona’s Three-Man Striker Shortlist
The club is actively looking for a new centre-forward to take over from the departing Lewandowski.
While Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez and Chelsea’s Joao Pedro remain leading candidates, Barcelona has now added a third name to the list: Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.
The Spanish giants see Kane as a financially savvy alternative. Reports from MD indicate Kane has a €65 million release clause in his Bayern contract, making him significantly cheaper than Alvarez or Pedro, whose asking prices reportedly exceed €100 million.
Despite Kane turning 33 this summer, Barcelona believes he can replicate Lewandowski’s success as a veteran striker.
The Englishman is in spectacular form, having scored 58 goals in 50 matches this season.
However, the player has shown no desire to leave Bavaria and appears very settled in Germany.
Separately, midfielder Frenkie de Jong has publicly urged Barcelona to make Marcus Rashford’s loan move from Manchester United permanent.
The English winger has impressed heavily at Camp Nou, contributing 14 goals and 11 assists this season.
“He has given us a lot: goals, assists, depth,” De Jong told Sport ES.
“I would be delighted if he continued with us.”
De Jong noted that Rashford arrived with great enthusiasm and has adapted well to the team.
With the player also expressing his desire to stay and the club reportedly open to the move, a permanent deal appears increasingly likely.
