Barcelona youngster, Ilaix Moriba could not sleep when he got news that he would start.
Ronald Koeman handed the teenager his debut in the Copa del Rey against UE Cornella.
The Segunda B side put on a tough fight, drawing the very best out of Moriba. He recovered the ball seven times and missed 11 of his 50 passes. He did commit four fouls which was a direct representation of his aggression on the pitch.
Ronald Koeman has also handed their first starts to Oscar Mingueza and Konrad de la Fuente, two other youth players to come out of the Barcelona B side. Ilaix is the latest reputed name who joins the line of talented youngsters tipped to break out soon.
Moriba has drawn comparisons to Paul Pogba due to his touch, physicality and energy. He likes to operate in central spaces, most favourably from a deep playmaking role.
Regarding his immediate future, Ilaix is very clear, “I go day by day. They are the ones who tell me up or down. I have to do my thing and be aware that my team is Barça B, with ‘Pimi ‘, to whom I am very grateful. Also to Catena, Franc, Marc Serra.
