Inter preparing €50m-a-year contract for Lionel Messi

Inter Milan are set to offer a lucrative contract for Lionel Messi to leave Barcelona.

This season has been a bumpy ride for the Blaugranas, they’ve lost out on the La Liga title to rivals Real Madrid.

Barcelona ended their 2019/20 campaign with no silverware.

Also, it has been widely speculated that the Argentine has lost faith in head-coach, Quique Setien and also the club’s hierarchy.

According to Marca via Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lionel Messi is to be offered a four-year contract worth £235 million.

Inter’s owners, the Suning Group, will only be able to land the star once his contract expires in 2021.

This astronomical deal would see him earn £60 million a year which is more than Cristiano Ronaldo’s £27.3m salary at Juventus.

£235 million seems to be a ridiculous offer for a club that are yet to pay Manchester United 45 million at the end of the year for Romelu Lukaku.

Messi has been at Barca since the age of 13 and despite all the rifts between him and the club, it’s highly unlikely that the Argentine will make the switch just for the money.

The 33-year old scored 30 goals and 26 assists in just 42 appearances across all competitions.
