Victor Font has publicly taken aim at Barcelona presidential rival, Joan Laporta.
The leadup to the elections has been a dramatic one and candidates are spewing off in public against each other.
Laporta’s campaign has banked on returning Barcelona back to their glory days. One of his main goals has been to keep Lionel Messi at Camp Nou. Font has suggested that Laporta has hardly shown any plans behind his high-minded ambitions.
“Laporta has not explained his project, he has merely surrounded himself with Barcelona assets,” Font said. “Many members will have voted by mail for Laporta without knowing how he will make sporting decisions, which is the most important thing.
“He doesn’t talk about Jordi Cruyff, who will take up positions of power? We have always given the names saying what each person will do, yet he wants people to vote in memory of a sextet from so many years ago, this situation saddens me.”
“There is a certain contradiction surrounding the economic amounts,” Font added. “It’s surprising that nobody is saying anything about that.
“We have to change many things at Barcelona, it’s necessary to join together and unite by putting the interests of the club first.”
