Ronald Koeman admits rumours about his future were “strange”.

Koeman has endured a difficult start in his first year in charge but managed to pick up a silverware in his maiden season.

Joan Laporta is pleased with Ronald Koeman following the club’s Copa del Rey success.

The Dutchaman’s future was up in the air since the arrival of Joan Laporta as the club’s new president.

Former midfielder Xavi was linked with the Nou Camp job but Koeman is under contract at Barcelona until 2022.

Koeman said: “We have improved many things. I never think about my future if I win or lose a game.

“It’s a little bit strange that I need to answer questions like this because we had a run of 19 games without losing. We are losing one match and I need to talk about my future?

“Maybe I need to accept this. I have one more year of contract. I know it’s a big pressure and I can handle that but sometimes it’s a little bit strange.”
