Ronald Koeman admitted it would be Joan Laporta who would be sanctioning appointments now.
Sources claimed that Jordi Cruyff, who is currently the head coach of Chinese Super League club Shenzen FC could be heading to Barcelona soon.
He is the son of iconic Catalan figure, Johan Cryuff and is tipped to join as Barcelona’s technical secretary. Koeman said about the potential appointment, “Right now I can’t say a lot, it’s up to the president.
“Laporta has to decide his team in important positions and that’s that. I know Jordi and his family well and he would be a good candidate, but I don’t know. When the president takes over they will talk about roles inside the club.”
On Laporta, Koeman added, “I haven’t spoken much to him. We had a little chat on various things in Paris. We have to meet for a longer time. Now’s not the moment to talk outside the club.”
Jordi, himself denied any negotiations with the Blaugrana. He has said, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo, “First of all I deny the news of my trip on Wednesday, I will be at a training camp. For now I have not had any contact with Barcelona and whatever happens will always be with the approval of Shenzhen Kaisa Group.
“I can’t confirm anything because I have no commitment to anyone. When we see how the economic and organisational situation of the club is, we will make the decisions. First, out of respect for the people who are working at the club, I have to talk to them.”
