Barcelona has identified numerous spots that require reinforcements as it prepares for a busy summer transfer window
The center-forward position, where Lewandowski, 34, is the only natural number 9 for the Catalans, is still one that needs attention. Joan Laporta, the club president, is widely known for using his connections to get things done. His relationship with Jorge Mendes appears to be well known by this point. Recognised names have regularly been proposed for Barcelona, with the super-agent representing some of Europe’s top players.
According to the Catalan outlet SPORT, Joao Félix appears to be Mendes’ most recent gift to the Blaugranas. Diego Simeone has not shied away from promoting the Portugese as he returns to Atletico Madrid after a disastrous loan at Chelsea, even suggesting Barcelona as a potential destination. Barcelona had been associated with the 23-year-old player previously. According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barça attempted to swap Griezmann for Joao Felix two seasons ago, but Atletico Madrid rejected the move.
Although money has previously prevented a potential deal, Barcelona has decided to back out this time due to divergent sporting aspirations. According to reports, Xavi and his staff are opposed to the signing. Felix had a difficult time at Chelsea, making little contributions and adding little to the team’s worth. Despite being regarded as a great potential, the player has had trouble scoring frequently in the league since joining Atletico.
Barcelona’s lack of enthusiasm for Felix does not seem out of the blue given the Catalans’ sparse use of second strikers and preference for a more conventional number 9. In preparation for the upcoming season, Barcelona seems to be more focused on luring Lionel Messi to the club as well as solving the defensive midfield crisis caused by Sergio Busquets’ unexpected departure.
Names like Vitor Roque and Aubameyang seem to carry more weight up front. The club’s center-forward goals can be better understood if La Liga clarifies the situation by accepting the Feasibility Plan. Roque continues to be the ideal player, but inexpensive alternatives like Aubameyang are still available.
