Jules Kounde answers to rumours regarding his future at Camp Nou

It is entirely obvious why Barcelona’s players are not very interested in leaving Xavi’s project after the club won the Spanish top division for the first time in a few seasons

The Catalans have lost their recent form, but for the remainder of the 2022–23 season, they have outperformed their domestic rivals by a wide margin.

In fact, up until recently, they had only given up seven goals in the whole league season, shattering any previous records for defence.

Since they have slowed down since winning the championship, Marc-Andre ter Stegen could only be able to break the record for the most clean sheets in a season. According to AS, he currently has 25 and needs two more to surpass Francisco Liano of Deportivo’s 1993/94 record.

With 18 goals allowed, Liano also holds the record for the fewest goals allowed in a Spanish league season. Barca has so far given up 16, although according to WhoScored, nine of those came in the previous six matches. Jules Kounde has undoubtedly contributed to his team winning some long overdue hardware, and the defence has generally been rock solid.

Given Barca’s dire financial situation, there have been rumours that Kounde would be let to leave the team due to the high price he could fetch in the transfer market. Sport said that both Man United and Chelsea were interested, but the Frenchman’s message to both those teams and to Barcelona itself was clear.
