Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman experienced his first defeat as the Catalan club’s manager.

The Blaugranes lost 1-0 to Getafe on Saturday and admitted that a lot of issues were there due to Getafe making over 20 fouls in the game – which led to a lack of rhythm for the Barca squad. He said that the referee would pause the match every now and then to address the potential fouls and that broke the concentration of many players on the squad.

“There have been many fouls and we couldn’t get into a rhythm. The referee slowed down the pace of the game and it was very difficult for us to score.

“I don’t know if there was VAR tonight.” continued the Barcelona manager (post-match press conference following Getafe vs Barça).

Koeman, however, praised Pedri and explained why Coutinho didn’t feature.

“Pedri is a great player and he showed that he has the quality to play for Barça. We gave Coutinho a break because he played a lot of minutes,” said Ronald Koeman.

As for Antoine Griezmann, Koeman talked about the position he played in.

“Griezmann? I’ve said many times that we have a lot of quality up front and the players can play in more than one position. Today we put Griezmann at 9, it’s important to be able to make those changes.”
