Ronald Koeman called out Barcelona attackers to help their maestro, Lionel Messi.
The Argentine has been on an usual scoring spree of 13 goals in his last 13 appearances.
He is leading the La Liga scoring charts with 18 goals in 20 appearances but Koeman wants to see more from the rest of the squad. As Barca gear up to face Sevilla this weekend, Koeman said, “He (Messi) can’t always do it alone. Messi has 18 goals.
“The other attackers, together, have the same number, he needs help. You don’t always have to ask the best or the most experienced players to make the difference. The responsibility has to be from the whole team, not just the experienced players.”
Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele have been paired up in attack next to Messi the most number of times. However, the duo only have 8 goals between them till date and followed up by Frenkie de Jong with 3.
Barcelona are clearly struggling in the La Liga and need more venom in their attack. Ansu Fati was racking up some decent numbers but he is currently out injured. Koeman has switched around his tactics plenty of times to accommodate his strikers. However, the results have been less than satisfying.
