Lautaro Martinez has ended speculations of a Barcelona switch this January.
Both Manchester United and Barcelona have taken notice of the 22-year-old’s incredible rise in the Inter ranks this season.
Martinez has struck the back of the net 5 times in 6 Champions League appearances this season along with 9 goals in 17 Serie A outings. He continues to star next to Romelu Lukaku in Antonio Conte’s leading Inter side. Barcelona has been searching for the right successor to Luis Suarez and figure Martinez would be the ideal fit.
“I am doing my best at Inter. I only focus on giving my all on the pitch,” Martinez told Sky Sport Italia. “I am happy at Inter. I try to work hard and stay focused. That’s my goal with this club.”
Martinez’s goal against Napoli helped Inter claim the top spot in the Serie A. “We are working on and off the pitch to get the most out of this moment,” the centre forward added. “We are happy because we are doing well. In training, we do everything the coach asks from us.
“We think about our job, to train and improve by doing what the coach tells us to do. We’re trying to win all the matches, to stay up there. By working hard and with conviction, we are convinced that the results will come.”
