Leicester City have offered Barcelona £45 million for Francisco Trincao.
The SC Braga youngster has not even played one game for the Blaugrana before bids are coming in for his signature.
He was signed for £28.3 (€31) million in January and loaned back to SC Braga for the remainder of the season. Now, he is expected to join up the Barca ranks and start training with the squad for next season. Of course, the Blaugrana still need to see out the Champions League campaign before starting pre-season for next term.
Trincao obviously will not take part in any remaining games of this season but is eligible to train with the team. Leicester City views him as a great future prospect. At just 20 years of age, Trincao has showcased wonderful creative abilities down the middle and from the right flank. He can play across the front line as well, if necessary.
The Foxes already have James Maddison as their number ten but Trincao would offer more attacking pedigree from next season. Given, how he has yet to play in Europe’s top five leagues, Leicester have a good chance of winning his signature. Barca are desperately trying to raise funds for more summer transfers.
So far, their recruitment strategies have not worked out well with all of their big-money signings in Coutinho, Dembele and Griezmann flopping out. Trincao will find it hard to break into the side right away, given how his favoured position is occupied by none other than Lionel Messi himself.
Leicester reportedly want him on a two-year loan spell with an obligation to buy. Trincao’s future might be decided after the current season is over and whether Quique Setien is still in charge, come September.
