Lionel Messi is speculated to leave Barcelona soon – and he has been tipped to join Man City.

Football pundit Graeme Souness released an article in The Times regarding the future of Lionel Messi at Barcelona. After suffering an embarrassing 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich, Lionel Messi is reportedly thinking of a move away from his childhood club Barcelona, who he has stayed with during all of his football career.

Premier League club Manchester City have been tipped by Souness to try to secure the legendary Argentine striker. His age is of no matter – everyone is well aware that he is at his prime even at the age of 33. Messi is speculated to think of leaving by next year or when his contract runs out.

A further reason for Messi to leave Barcelona is the growing pile of issues at the Catalan club. The quality is going down, Setien has been sacked, and Messi can no longer hold the squad together on his own. As a result, he might not want to finish his football career with a club that is dwindling in quality.

Souness wrote in The Times: “Lionel Messi looked like a man who has had enough of carrying that team; without him they wouldn’t even be good enough to qualify for the Champions League.

“This would be the perfect week to put a bid in for the 33-year-old Argentinian and I could easily see him playing in Manchester — at either United or City. For now, however, he has left the stage to others, as have City.”
