Barcelona youngster Marc Bernal is reportedly open to leaving the club on loan in the January transfer window, citing frustration over his lack of playing time this season.

Barcelona’s Bernal Ready to Explore Loan Options in Winter Transfer Window

Having returned from a serious knee injury in September, Bernal’s comeback has been managed very carefully by the club.

Despite this, he has seen only brief cameos nine minutes against Valencia, one minute against Oviedo, 11 minutes versus PSG, and 10 minutes in a match against Olympiacos.

According to Marca, a match against Athletic Club coming up could be a turning point.

With key players Pedri and Gavi injured, and Frenkie de Jong suspended, Bernal stands to gain more opportunities but if those do not come, he is ready to explore a temporary move elsewhere.

It’s expected he would draw significant interest if he becomes available. Bernal himself is said to be open to a loan to get more consistent minutes.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s stance seems more cautious. The club is keen to keep him within their future plans and does not currently intend to offload him permanently or loan him out they view this season as part of his gradual reintegration.

The delicate balance stems from Bernal’s recovery. Barcelona’s coaching and medical staff are handling his reintegration carefully, wanting to avoid reigniting injury problems.

But the next few months could be pivotal: more game time might persuade him to stay, while continued stagnation could push him toward a move.

If Bernal does make a move in January, it could be both a bid for personal development and a signal that even highly rated youngsters need regular minutes to grow something Barcelona may struggle to offer right now.
