As the midfielder struggles for playing time at Camp Nou, Marc Casado could be getting closer to leaving Barcelona. Hansi Flick stated that Marc Bernal is ahead of Casado in the hierarchy while also confirming that Casado missed his most recent match against Villarreal due to a knock.
Casado said in December that he wasn’t pleased with his playing time thus far this season, and there were rumours of interest from Atletico during the winter. The midfielder is reportedly weighing his options, according to reporter Jorge Picón’s latest update. He told El Desmarque, “I’ve heard from multiple sources that Marc Casvé is thinking about leaving FC Barcelona.”
“I don’t know if Atlético de Madrid, as I’ve read in several places, could be one of the possible destinations; several clubs are already interested.” Casado is “beginning to see his place at Barcelona becoming increasingly limited,” according to Picon, and “if he were to leave, it would be in the next summer transfer window, provided there is a good offer.”
Marc Bernal as Marc Casado’s struggles continue
When Hansi Flick’s team defeated Villarreal 4-1 in La Liga on Saturday, Marc Bernal was once again in the starting lineup. Since recovering from his ACL injury, the midfield player has had to exercise patience, but as the season draws to a close, he is gradually becoming more well-known. Flick said that he likes what he sees in the young player and gave an explanation for why he has surpassed Marc Casado in Barcelona’s hierarchy.
He told reporters, “Casň missed a day of training this week, and even though he trained yesterday, he couldn’t do much.” In the end, he performed well today, but Bernal is currently a little ahead of him. In addition to scoring goals, he provides us with excellent structure. It’s critical that we maintain possession and transition to the wings. When he performs at this level, I enjoy what I see.
Bernal has the opportunity to have a significant effect in the upcoming weeks due to Frenkie de Jong’s injury. Due to a hamstring issue, the Dutch midfielder is anticipated to be out for at least a month.
