Barcelona have officially appointed Ronald Koeman as their head coach.

The Catalan side have officially welcomed back their old hero. Koeman was in charge of the Holland national team who have done really well leading up to Euros.

However, he will now be relieved of his national team duties and take over the role of the first team coach at Barcelona till June 30, 2022. The Catalans have not done well of late. In fact, they have been horrible in their recently concluded season.

The team had two coaches in Ernesto Valverde and Quique Setien both of whom faced the sack. While Valverde at least kept them in the race for a Champions League title and in the lead in the league, Setien’s tenure saw everything collapse.

Barcelona faced their biggest humiliation last week when they suffered their biggest defeat in over 75 years. The Spanish team were hammered 8-2 by a ruthless Bayern Munich side and it has now led to a series of changes at the club.

It began with the sacking of Setien followed by the release of Eric Abidal as Director of Football. Now the third change has come with Barcelona appointing Koeman as the new coach.
