OFFICIAL: Barcelona Hand Ansu Fati Contract Extension And Set Release Clause At €170m

Barcelona have just extended Ansu Fati’s contract until June 2022.

His release clause has also been extended to €170m from €100m.

The clause is set to be further improved to €400m once he signs his first professional contract with the Blaugrana. Josep Maria Bartomeu, the director responsible for professional youth football, Silvio Elías, and CEO of FC Barcelona Òscar Grau oversaw the process on Wednesday night.

It has been an outstanding journey to the first team for Ansu Fati. He became the youngest player in La Liga history to score and assist in a single match last September. He also became the youngest goal scorer in Barcelona’s history when he knocked one in during a 2-2 draw againt Osasuna in August.

Ansumane Fati joined Barcelona when he was only 10 years old and now, at 17, he is one of the most talked about young footballers on the planet. The teenager’s stock has skyrocketed this season and he is heavily tipped to join the line of excellence at Camp Nou.

“For me, La Masia is the best school in the world. They helped me from the first day I arrived and I am extremely grateful to everyone who works there” he said. “They are all spectacular. From the first day I have learned things from everyone. And they have also been there to support me through difficult times.”

“Working every day with the best is a dream, and also a reward” he adds, commenting that the days of his debut and his first goal at camp are his fondest memories so far. “From now onwards, what I have to do is keep working, even harder than ever, to keep getting chances and carryon on enjoying myself. The rest will come after.”
