The acquisition of Julian Araujo from LA Galaxy has been been announced by FC Barcelona
On the day of the January transfer deadline, the Catalan giants swooped in late for the 21-year-old and quickly came to terms with the MLS team. Also, the Mexico international signed off on the contract’s specifics.
Unfortunately, a brief 18-second delay in submitting the required papers meant that FIFA did not approve the move. It was rumoured that the Blaugrana appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The signing of Araujo has since been officially revealed. Araujo will sign a deal with the La Liga champions through the summer of 2026, as was noted in the release. He will be a member of the Barça Athletic squad and practise there with his countryman Rafa Marquez.
According to reports, Barcelona spent almost €4 million to recruit the promising young defender.
Araujo has been offered a subsidiary contract, according to journalist Albert Roge, but will be called up to practise with the first team. The right back, who is 21 years old, won’t be eligible to compete for the team until the following year.
