Ousmane Dembele Dropped From France Squad And Given Stiff Warning

Ousmane Dembele has been dropped from the France squad for the latest international games.

Didier Deschamps sent a warning to Barcelona’s marquee signing to regain his previous form or continue to miss out.

He hinted that the winger might need to improve his fitness as well following a long period away due to injury. He featured last month after nearly ten months on the sidelines with a knee issue and has been strapped to the recovery table for several more at Camp Nou.

Dembele still needs to work his way into Barca’s starting lineup. Ronald Koeman is ready to give him a run of games but he will need to prove his worth.

“Does he still have a chance? Yes of course, Dembele is coming back from a major injury. We must give him time,” Deschamps told reporters, in quotes carried by Diario AS.

“We must give him time. I know what he is capable of. He had physical problems, but now it is up to him to find his full potential.”

Dembele has performed decently since returning from injury, mostly evident in the 2-0 win over Juventus last month. He will have to fight for his spot against the likes of Ansu Fati, Philippe Coutinho, Pedri Rodriguez and Antoine Griezmann.
