Ousmane Dembele seems to have finally hit his stride at Barcelona.
It hasn’t been an easy start to life at Camp Nou for the French international.
After arriving on a mammoth transfer fee from Borussia Dortmund, Dembele has fallen short of expectations. Injuries and off the field issues constantly robbed him of a straight run of games in the team. However, this season, he finally seems to be hitting a consistent bit of form under Ronald Koeman.
Dembele has collected 10 goals and 4 assists in 37 appearances this term. He previously came under fire for his lifestyle outside of football, even drawing disciplinary measures from Barca.
“My style of life is very good,” he insisted. “That’s not why I have struggled so much in the past. People speak without knowing, that’s all it is.
“And recently, I’ve not got injured as much. I always maintain a smile, even after the injuries. I told myself it’s life. There are tests in life that you have to overcome.”
Dembele was signed in 2017 and has just one more season left on his contract.
“I still have one year left on my contract,” he told beIN Sports, cited via Football Italia. “There have been no talks with the new board yet, but I’m happy and feel good.
“I don’t know the new president, but he is very close to the players. We’ll see how it goes. I have been feeling good since I got back.”
