Pau Cubarsí, a teenage centre defender for Barcelona, made his 100th official appearance for the team in the Copa del Rey match against Guadalajara at Pedro Escartín Stadium, an accomplishment few players reach at such a young age.

It is noteworthy that this centenary occurred in the same tournament that, in January 2024, he made his first team appearance against Unionistas de Salamanca. Cubarsí’s ascent has been rapid since his debut. Despite being only eighteen, he has established himself as a key member of Barcelona’s defence and is commended for his maturity, tactical acumen, and capacity for top-tier competition.

He has participated in 67 La Liga games, 22 UEFA Champions League games, 9 Copa del Rey games, and 2 Supercopa de España games over these 100 games. He has five assists, including one to Jules Koundé on his debut, and a goal against Atlético de Madrid in the Copa del Rey semifinal.

The following are Cubarsi’s 100 competitive appearances: 22 in the Champions League, 9 in the Copa del Rey, 67 in La Liga, and 2 in the Spanish Super Cup. With five assists and one goal (the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg versus Atlético Madrid in the 2024–2025 season), he has contributed to the offence.

In 2025, he won a Copa del Rey, a La Liga title, and a Spanish Super Cup. He also helped Spain win gold in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Pau Cubarsí, a Blaugrana since 2018, was born in Estanyol, Girona, in 2007 and relocated to Barça in 2018 to enrol in the youth programme. Seven years later, the centre defender is still developing at a remarkable pace and hitting milestones that attest to his current and future excellence.

Despite the extra problems brought about by the loss of Iñigo Martínez, with whom Cubarsí established a powerful defensive tandem, he is still a regular starter under Hansi Flick and is still making an impression despite the increased duties.
