Barcelona midfielder Pedri has revealed his delight after teammate Fermín Lopez chose to remain at the club despite a substantial transfer bid from Chelsea.
“He Was Always Staying”: Pedri on Fermin Lopez’s Rejected Chelsea Bid

The Premier League side made a €40 million offer for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder as the summer window drew to a close, but Lopez ultimately decided to stay at Camp Nou.
In an interview with Onda Cero, Pedri shared, “Fermín recently told us he was staying; we’re very happy, I love him very much, and I knew he was going to stay with us. He has a Blaugrana heart.”
Pedri’s confidence in Lopez’s commitment underscores the strong bond among the players and their shared dedication to Barcelona’s success.
Lopez, a product of Barcelona’s academy, has been regarded as a key part of the team’s future. His decision to reject Chelsea’s advances highlights his loyalty to the club he joined at the age of 12.
Lopez himself later confirmed, “Well, in the end my priority has always been to be at Barça… It’s always a compliment that there is interest from other clubs, but the truth is that I always had the idea of staying at Barça and being able to succeed here”.
Pedri also took time to praise new Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who joined from Espanyol.
“Joan Garcia is incredible. I’ve been really impressed by his propulsion and speed. He’s going to help us a lot because he’s a top goalkeeper,” Pedri added.
Garcia, who made a notable impact in his first few appearances, is already earning recognition from his teammates for his shot-stopping abilities and comfort with the ball at his feet.
As Pedri joins the Spanish national team for the international break, Garcia will take a brief rest after not receiving a maiden call-up.
Barcelona fans can rejoice in retaining a promising talent in Lopez and adding a skilled goalkeeper in Garcia, both of whom are poised to play significant roles in the club’s pursuit of titles this season.
