PSG are reportedly interested in signing defender Ronald Araujo from Barcelona

Barcelona had offered Araujo a new contract, which he and his squad had turned down. PSG are interested in the defender, whose contract with the club expires next summer. Chelsea is also interested in signing the defender.

PSG is looking for greater defensive talent due to Sergio Ramos’s recurrent ailments. Ramos joined the club last year but has only played five games in all competitions. The Spanish defender is also nearly 36 years old, so he won’t be around for long at the highest level.

Chelsea will be searching for defensive reinforcements, since three first-team defenders have yet to agree to extensions on their existing contracts, which expire in the summer. Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, and Cesar Azpilicueta might all depart the club this year if new contracts are not agreed upon.

This season, Araujo has appeared in 21 league games, becoming a frequent companion for Gerard Pique. The 22-year-old has previously played at right-back and may provide versatility to whatever team signs him.

Barcelona are not ruling anything out, and they will not be surprised by any unexpected surprises that arise. Joan Laporta wants Araujo to stay, but he has made it plain that the club comes first, and any offers will have to be examined if they arrive.
