Rakitic-Busqets take subtle dig at Barcelona board over squad size

Barcelona players seem relentless in taking potshots at the board.

After Messi’s outburst, his team followed him quite handsomely. Pique called out the board directly while Rakitic has now lamented at the poor planning of the squad at Nou Camp.

Speaking to Marca after the game in Italy, Rakitić said: “Our squad is short but those responsible already knew this.

“The solution is what it is, and those of us in the squad now need to pull together ahead of a very important return leg.

“We knew it was going to be very difficult, it’s hard to play against a team that closes down space so much. We made a mistake and they scored.”

Busqets yesterday also said that the Barcelons squad is not good enough.

“[Nelson] Semedo and I were one booking away from a ban so we were always running that risk [of suspension],” Busquets told reporters after the game.”

“We hope Pique’s injury is nothing serious but we will take on the second leg with what we have. We don’t have a deep squad because, unfortunately, that’s how it was planned.”
