Brazil has released Barcelona forward Raphinha from international duty, ruling him out of the team’s upcoming friendly against India.

Raphinha Exits Brazil Camp, Set to Miss India Friendly

The decision follows a thigh issue the winger picked up during Brazil’s 4-2 victory over Australia in Brisbane.

Raphinha started the match and scored Brazil’s second goal from the penalty spot before manager Dorival Júnior substituted him at half-time.

The early withdrawal raised immediate concerns at Barcelona, especially given the demanding schedule the player has faced this season.

However, medical tests have provided encouraging news for the Catalan club.

Examinations revealed only a small amount of swelling and fluid in Raphinha’s right thigh, with no signs of a muscle rupture.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed that the player reported discomfort in the area, prompting medical staff to act cautiously rather than risk aggravating the problem.

The CBF has now chosen a conservative approach, allowing Raphinha to return to Spain for recovery.

He will miss Brazil’s clash with India and will instead continue his rehabilitation at Barcelona’s Ciutat Esportiva training facility.

Barcelona’s medical department has already been in contact with the CBF and will assess the player upon his arrival.

While the club awaits definitive medical information, early indications suggest the issue is limited to an overload or minor contracture rather than a serious injury.

The news offers some relief for manager Hansi Flick, who feared losing the influential forward for an extended period.

Raphinha has become a key figure in Barcelona’s attack, and his availability for upcoming fixtures remains crucial to the team’s ambitions this season.
