Robert Lewandowski will leave Barcelona when his contract expires at the conclusion of the current season, the veteran striker confirmed on social media.

Barcelona Striker Lewandowski Announces Summer Departure

The 37-year-old has decided against extending his stay at Spotify Camp Nou, despite the club’s willingness to offer him a new deal on reduced terms.

Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022 for €45 million ($53 million) and has spent four years in Catalonia.

“After four years full of challenges and hard work, it’s time to move on,” Lewandowski wrote on Instagram.

“I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships. Catalonia is my place on earth.”

The Poland international has scored 119 goals in 191 appearances for the Blaugrana.

During his spell, he helped Barcelona win LaLiga three times, in addition to three Supercopa titles and one Copa del Rey.

This season, Lewandowski has shared the No. 9 role with Ferran Torres but remains effective in front of goal, netting 18 times as Barcelona secured both La Liga and the Spanish Supercopa.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta gave Lewandowski the opportunity to join the club, a move the striker calls “the most incredible chapter of my career.”

Fans will have one final chance to see Lewandowski at home on Sunday, when Barcelona host Real Betis in their last league match of the campaign at Spotify Camp Nou.

Sources indicate that clubs from Europe, Saudi Arabia, and the United States have shown interest in the veteran forward. Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire is among the potential destinations.

“Barça is back where it belongs,” Lewandowski added, reflecting on his time at the club.

The forward’s departure marks the end of a productive era for Barcelona, who acquired him as a proven goalscorer from Bayern.

His exit will free up significant wages as the club continues to reshape its squad for the future.
