Lewandowski’s current deal is set to expire next summer, and although no final decision has been made, his preference is to carry on with the club.

Meanwhile, rumours link him with interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia — yet his priority appears to be staying put.

According to sports journalist Dominik Piechota reported through Barca Blaugranes, Lewandowski is “very happy” at Barcelona with his family and is prepared to accept a big pay cut to continue his stay.

“Robert wants to prove he can be in a substitute role. He and his family are very happy here,” Piechota said.

This season, Lewandowski has embraced the possibility of coming off the bench rather than being an automatic starter.

He has scored four times in eight La Liga appearances under coach Hansi Flick, proving he still has the quality even with fewer minutes.

Barcelona now face a decision. On one hand, they must assess whether Lewandowski still fits their long-term planning.

On the other hand, they must consider whether to commit to a new deal given their well-publicised financial issues and the challenge of recruiting a replacement striker.

While Lewandowski makes it clear that his preference is to stay, the key questions are:

Will Barcelona offer him a new contract under reduced terms?

Will they be willing to keep him in a supplementary role rather than as their main attacking force?

How will his performances over the rest of the season influence the club’s decision to commit?

One thing is clear: Lewandowski’s mindset is focused on Barcelona, and he is ready to align his personal ambitions with the club’s needs even if it means less money and fewer minutes on the pitch.
