Ronald Koeman Believes Football Belongs To The Fans, Against ESL

Ronald Koeman came out and agreed with Gerard Pique’s sentiments, “Football belongs to the fans. Today more than ever.”

The Barcelona manager was questioned regarding the ESL prior to a La Liga tie against Getafe.

When asked about Pep Guardiola’s comments, Koeman said, “I agree with what Pep said about the numbers of games. It’s unbelievable. UEFA aren’t listening to the managers and players about the number of games. For UEFA money is the most important thing.”

Koeman also had to explain Barca’s stance as he said, “I spoke with the President yesterday about this issue and he explained to me the position of the club. But there’s been a lot of movement since yesterday, so I think it’s better not to comment.”

Now, only AC Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona remain as the only participants of the Super League.

Koeman added, “I’m not going to talk about the European Super League anymore. I’m not the spokesperson of the club. I don’t know how this topic will end. At the end of the day, we want the best for the club.”

Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid announced their withdrawal along with the other 6 English clubs on Wednesday.
