Ronald Koeman desperate for January reinforcements

Ronald Koeman hopeful of bringing in new faces to Camp Nou despite financial troubles.

Barca’s financial situation is making it hard for the Dutch coach who seems too keen on signing new players for the Catalan giants.

Since Luis Suarez’s departure, Koeman has expressed his desire to add a new striker to his ranks.

Barca is yet to presidential elections on January 24 following Joseph Bartomeu’s resignation last year.

Koeman has very few options at the moment as Ansu Fati, Gerard Pique, Philippe Coutinho and Sergi Roberto are all long-term absentees and is not expected to make a comeback soon.

“The best thing would be to get a president in place as soon as possible because it would give us negotiating time,” Koeman told a news conference ahead of Saturday’s La Liga match against Granada.

“In the short time, it’s important that we get some reinforcements in because we want to improve the squad. We need to be more effective and increase competition for places.

“There’s many reasons to make signings, but I also understand the situation the club is in and if we can’t make any signings then we’ll wait for next season.”
