Ronald Koeman Desperately Calls Out For New Signings

Ronald Koeman admits he needs new talents to make this Barcelona team work.

Barcelona made it past UD Cornella in the Copa del Rey round of 32 on Friday.

The Blaugrana still need to close the gap to the top of the La Liga, currently at fourth and 10 points behind Atletico Madrid. Koeman has been forced to tackle squad issues since coming in.

Due to the ongoing financial crisis, Barcelona’s debt has piled up to an insurmountable amount. Add to that Lionel Messi’s uncertain future and a number of star signings turning out to be major flops.

Koeman has been left with a massive task of reigniting an unbalanced team while also fending off distractions off the pitch. When asked if newer signings would make the transition better, the Dutchman replied, “You know my stance. Of course we lack players, but it all depends on the club’s financial situation. I don’t decide.

“I spoke with (the presidential candidates) and my opinion isn’t too different to theirs. It all depends on the club. If we can’t bring anyone in, then I accept that and we continue with what we have.

“We have enough quality but we want more and we have to improve in certain areas.”
