Ronald Koeman Ready To Give Luis Suarez A Chance

Luis Suarez might not have to leave Barcelona after all.

Ronald Koeman, who came in to replace Quique Setien at Camp Nou, told the 33-year-old that he won’t be needing his services anymore.

After an entire transfer saga with Juventus, where Suarez nearly left for Turin by terminating his Barca contract, Koeman has decided to keep him on. The striker scored 21 goals and laid out 12 assists in 36 appearances last term. Koeman revealed that he has held talks with Suarez regarding his future.

“I have spoken with him about his future and we are waiting to see if he stays or not,” he told TV3, as reported by Mundo Deportivo. “If he doesn’t eventually find a team and ends up staying, he will be one more player on the squad.”

There is still a possibility of Suarez leaving but Koeman agreeing to keep him is a good sign. No matter how old Suarez might get, he is still an outstanding player for Barcelona. The Uruguayan international scored an outstanding goal in the 8-2 defeat against Bayern Munich, showing his pedigree and hunger as a player.

Barcelona will oversee a lot of changes under the new head coach but they don’t exactly have a replacement for Suarez right now. Perhaps him staying is the best solution while the club gets other matters in order.
