Ronald Koeman urges club to not offload Frenkie de Jong this summer.

The Dutch midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Barcelona demands €65m for the Dutch midfielder which could potentially rise €85m with add-ons.

Man United manager Erik ten Hag made a phone call to convince De Jong about his project.

But club president Joan Laporta insists he wants De Jong to stay at Camp Nou despite financial constraints and wants him to take a further paycut to extend his stay.

Barcelona would need to shell out £34.5million to the Dutchman next year as stipulated by his contract.

But former manager Ronald Koeman urges club not sell De Jong this summer.

“I have a lot of contact with Frenkie and I know his situation”, as per reports from Marca.

“He’s already said he wants to stay, and his intention is to continue at Barca.

“There are many rumours, but I think Barca always keep the best and sign the best. To improve, you don’t sell players like Frenkie de Jong.”
