The future of Andreas Christensen is still one of the few unsolved matters Barcelona hopes to resolve during this transfer season. The La Liga winners have not yet extended the 29-year-old defender’s contract, despite Hansi Flick and his staff expressing their gratitude for him. His deal expires in 2026.

The Saudi Arabian team Al-Nassr has reportedly expressed a keen interest in signing Christensen and has offered a possible contract that would more than double his current income, according to SPORT.

A month and a half ago, representatives from Al-Nassr traveled to Barcelona to make inquiries about a number of players, with a special emphasis on central defenders. Although Christensen’s name was mentioned during those discussions, interest in him has only grown in recent days.

The Danish international, though, hasn’t indicated that he plans to leave yet. In light of his present contract status, Barcelona would be amenable to his leaving. The coaches are grateful for Christensen. When he returned from injury, Flick looked to him for support in the closing minutes of the season.

FC Barcelona Considers Selling League Winner To Saudi Arabia

Al-Hilal’s fierce rival Al-Nassr has expressed interest in the Dane, according to SPORT, which also notes that Laporta and Sporting Director Deco are “thinking about opening the door for him.”

The 29-year-old’s versatility in playing as a center back or pivot is something that Flick admires, but Barca must consider the possibility of making money off of a player it signed for free from Chelsea who has just over 12 months left on his contract.

Even though Christensen hasn’t indicated that he wants to leave Barcelona, Mundo Deportivo claims that there is a sense that he will want to finish out his contract and then sign with his next team for nothing when he becomes a free agent.

Because FC Barcelona had so many choices at center back, they could afford to sell Christensen from a sporting standpoint. Although injuries to some of these players have occasionally left Flick shorthanded, Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia are other options, and Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez are undisputed stars.
