Barcelona striker Sergio Agüero taken to hospital for cardiac examination

According to reports, Sergio Aguero is suing his previous team, Barcelona, for $3 million in unpaid salary. The Argentina international signed with Barcelona in the summer of 2021, but a cardiac issue caused him to retire from the team after only a few months. Aguero and the team came to an early contract termination arrangement, but now, according to ESPN, Aguero is suing the team again for unpaid wages.

According to a club report, ex-player Sergio Agüero submitted a claim on May 29, 2024, claiming that he is entitled €3 million as part of the resolution agreement that ended his working connection with the club. The parties had not reached a conciliation agreement as of June 21, 2024. For the next round of the process, the club is currently waiting for a local court to process the claim.

Agüero sues Barcelona for millions of dollars in unpaid salary

The 36-year-old Argentine legend played in just 5 games for FC Barcelona, scoring 1 goal, before his career was cut short due to the diagnosis of a heart arrhythmia. The former Manchester City player had to give up sports due to the diagnosis. According to other reports, ‘Scores Sports Management’, a business, is requesting €10 million ($10.9 million) for their involvement in the €50 million ($54.6 million) transfer of winger Ousmane Dembélé from Barça to Paris Saint-Germain in 2023.

Barça has noted the cases because of the possible financial ramifications. Prior to the club’s AGM on October 19, when members will have the chance to contest the 2023–24 financial performance, a small group of members received the report this week. Barça will report losses for the previous season totalling €91 million ($99.4 million) at the AGM.
