Since Robert Lewandowski is anticipated to go when his contract expires, Barcelona will most likely look to add a new number nine next summer. Serhou Guirassy, a striker for Borussia Dortmund, is reportedly one of the several targets that have already been lined up.
Guirassy has been in excellent form since 2023, scoring 74 goals in 88 games for Stuttgart and Dortmund. He scored a hat-trick against Barcelona in the Champions League last season. Hansi Flick is interested in him because of his performance level and wants him to be his new starting striker in 2026.
Additionally, there is now a greater likelihood that Barcelona will try to sign Guirassy next summer because Bild (via MD) claims that Bortmund is willing to let him go if they receive an offer of €65 million.
The Bundesliga powerhouses have agreed to reduce their asking price for Real Madrid and Barcelona from €100 million to €65 million because Guirassy has reportedly told them that he wants to join either team.
Guirassy negotiates release clause in case Barcelona come calling
A recent Bild story, however, indicates that Barcelona would be able to sign Guirassy for much less money if they are interested in him. Rumour has it that Guirassy has negotiated a reduced release price in case Real Madrid or Barcelona enquire before his contract expires in 2028.
Flick’s wish may prevail in this case, particularly if Atletico Madrid’s asking price for Julian Alvarez is thought to be unaffordable. Barcelona president Joan Laporta and sports director Deco are not as interested in signing Guirassy.
Barcelona seems to be focused on acquiring a striker as Lewandowski nears the end of his illustrious career. At the moment, Etta Eyong, Erling Haaland, and Julian Alvarez are also being discussed as potential targets.
