Quique Setien remains doubtful whether he will be head coach when their Champions League season resumes next month.

After Thursday’s 1-2 defeat at Osasuna, Setien is hopeful of guiding Barcelona for their Champions league games next month but is unsure if he will still be in charge by then.

Madrid’s 34th La Liga title was confirmed after the Blaugrana suffered the defeat in their own backyard.

Setien told reporters post-match: “I hope to be the Barcelona coach in the Champions League but I don’t know.”

“I agree with Messi on some things,” he added. “We have to do self-criticism and if we don’t do it, it will cost us anything we want to do.

“We have tried to improve during these months that we have been here, there are things that have cost us and [overshadowed the] many times that we have done well.

“It all comes down to success, today the opponent shot three times and scored two goals, we had fifteen [shots] and we were not right.”

“I am the most responsible. I am empowered and energised, of course,” he said.

“I am convinced that we are going to be a different team, with a full mental attitude and that we will face the Champions League with the maximum guarantees.

“Until then I can control, the rest I can’t control it. I’ve already lived through these situations.”

Having lost the La Liga title to Real Madrid, Champions League is the only hope of silverware for Barcelona which resumes next month.
