Setien's Barca Future To Depend On Napoli And CL Performance

Quique Setien’s future at Barca might be at stake depending on the Napoli game result.

Although it’s true that he might not be sacked purely on the basis of whether Barcelona win over Napoli in the Champions League fixture or not, his future at Barcelona will definitely depend on how well Barcelona does in Champions League overall.

Setien has already been fire lately for underperforming as the new manager. However, Barca president Bartomeu stressed several times that he expects Setien to continue next season. However, not everyone thinks so – for instance, Sergio Busquets, who is worried about Setien.

“It’s a decision for the club, it’s nothing to do with the players, we’re just focused on what happens on the pitch. But if Setien continues, it will be a good sign, because that would mean that we’ve done well in the Champions League or won it,” said Busquets on Setien.

But the manager himself is rather calm about the whole situation.

“At no point has the thought that tomorrow (Saturday) could be my last game passed through my head, we have prepared for this game thinking that me and my coaching staff are going to continue,” Setien told a news conference on Friday.

“The sensations from the last game we played (a 5-0 win at Alaves) were positive and we needed a rest because playing so many games in a short period tired us out, but we have had enough time to prepare for the game and clear our heads.

Guess we’ll have to wait and watch!
