Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has delivered a reassuring update on defender Eric García following the national team’s 3-2 victory over England at Wembley on Saturday evening.

De la Fuente Issues Eric García Update After Warm-Up Scare

The Barcelona centre-back was forced to withdraw from the Nations League fixture after experiencing discomfort during the pre-match warm-up.

Despite being named in the squad and expected to feature among the substitutes, García was unable to take his place on the bench as Spain secured a hard-fought win in London.

Speaking to reporters after the match, De la Fuente addressed the situation with cautious optimism.

The Spain boss confirmed that the issue does not appear to be serious, but emphasised that the medical staff will conduct a thorough assessment upon the team’s return to Madrid.

“Eric suffered a minor issue during the warm-up,” De la Fuente explained.

“It doesn’t appear to be serious. When we arrive in Madrid, we will evaluate his condition and see if he is able to recover.

We will certainly not take any risks with the player.”

The Spanish coach further acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding García’s availability for the remainder of the international break, adding that the team will monitor his progress closely before making any decisions.

“Curently, the injury does not look serious, but we don’t know if he will be able to recover and play in any of the remaining matches,” De la Fuente stated.

The 23-year-old defender, who joined Barcelona from Manchester City, has been seeking to establish himself in the national setup.

His potential absence could force De la Fuente to reshuffle his defensive options for Spain’s upcoming fixtures.

Spain will now await further medical reports before determining whether García can feature in their next Nations League encounters.

The team’s medical staff will prioritise the player’s long-term health over any immediate return to action.
