Marcus Rashford is reportedly still interested in joining Barcelona this summer. In the event that the Manchester United forward chooses not to commit to Aston Villa, two elite European teams are interested in him.

During the winter transfer window, Rashford left his boyhood team, Manchester United, after being fired by head coach Ruben Amorim. The England international joined Villa on a temporary loan with a summer purchase option worth £40 million (€47 million or $53 million).

Rashford’s performance at United has been erratic lately; he only managed seven goals in the first half of this season after scoring 30 in the 2022–2023 campaign. However, he appears to be restored at Villa.

Rashford has three goals and six assists in 15 games for Villa so far, thanks to Unai Emery’s confidence-boosting tactics. There has been increased discussion regarding the 27-year-old’s future after his impressive performance against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

Rashford reportedly still “dreams” of joining Barcelona this summer after missing out on a transfer in January, according to talkSPORT. Barcelona and United had discussions about the attacker, but they were unable to come to an agreement.

Barcelona is Marcus Rashford’s dream move

Barcelona and United had discussions about the attacker, but they were unable to come to an agreement. Top European clubs, including Barcelona, are reportedly interested in Rashford because of his improved play at Villa. The Catalan powerhouses would have to sell one or two players, though, in order to finance a deal this time.

Whatever Emery and Villa decide to do with Rashford first will determine if or not such discussions take place. They are in a strong position to sign him thanks to the £40 million buy option, but only if he has impressed Emery. In theory, the United academy graduate might turn down Villa’s offer in order to pursue his ideal transfer to Barcelona.

Despite his noticeable improvement since moving to Villa Park, Rashford’s time at United appears to be coming to an end. On Wednesday, it was revealed that regardless of what transpires in the summer, Amorim “will not offer Rashford a route back into the first-team picture” at United.

Additionally, earlier this week, it was reported that if Villa rejects Rashford’s permanent signing, another Premier League team may start talks for him.
