Superstar Lionel Messi breaks Barcelona starting record

Our best player doesn’t stop making new records.

He has broken another one this time.

Leo Messi has been included in Barcelona’s starting XI in 416 La Liga games. Having featured in Sunday’s clash against Real Betis, the Argentine set the competition’s new record.

Messi is now the best foreign player in terms of a number of La Liga’s starting appearances. The previous record holder was the Brazilian midfielder Donato who started in 415 fixtures of the league.

Apart from setting a new record, Leo set up all Barca’s three goals against Betis. This was the fourth occasion on which he achieved that feat.
