New coach Xavi Hernandez is pretty impressed with Torres in training.
Former Man City star Ferran Torres is clear to make his Barcelona debut. He can play in Barcelona’s Supercopa de Espana semifinal against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
The 21-year-old joined the club from Premier League winners for around 65 million euros and could only be registered after Samuel Umtiti took a wage cut in his new contract.
The original plan was to sell the French defender but he was reluctant to leave the Nou Camp and opted instead to reduce his wages to stay in Spain.
Torres will wear the No.19 and could make his first appearance against Barcelona’s biggest rivals Real Madrid in the first semi-final in Saudi Arabia.
New coach Xavi Hernandez is pretty impressed with Torres in training but it will be decided on Wednesday as Xavi give handover a debut or not.
The 21-year-old would be a big future prospect for Barcelona and he might help Catalan giants to push for the top four finish in La Liga and a silverware this season.
